The Promotions progress bar shows customers how much more to add to unlock a reward, such as free shipping. Kaching Cart applies the reward at checkout with an automatic discount, so customers do not need a code.
Each step of the bar is a tier: a threshold and a reward (shipping discount, order discount or free gift).
Turn on the progress bar
In the Kaching Cart app, open the cart that you want to edit.
Find the Promotions progress bar section.
Turn on the switch in the section header.
Click the section to open its settings.
A new cart already has one tier: Free shipping at 50.
Choose what unlocks the rewards
Next to Promotions unlocked by, select one option:
Cart total: the customer unlocks a tier when the cart value reaches the threshold. The threshold field is called Min. price.
Item quantity: the customer unlocks a tier when the number of items in the cart reaches the threshold. The threshold field is called Min. items.
This applies to all tiers in all markets.
Add a free shipping tier
Under Default tiers, click Add tier.
Select Shipping discount.
In Title, enter the name that customers see on the bar, for example "Free shipping".
In Min. price (or Min. items), enter the threshold.
Keep Discount at 100% for free shipping, or enter a lower percentage or a Fixed Amount.
Save your changes.
Which shipping methods get the discount
By default, the discount applies to every paid shipping rate. To leave out expensive rates, such as express shipping:
In the shipping tier, select Exclude shipping rates over a certain amount.
In the field next to it, enter the highest shipping price that gets the discount.
Rates above this amount get no discount. You cannot filter by shipping method name.
Change the texts on the bar
Default text: shows while a reward is still locked.
Unlocked text: shows after a reward is unlocked.
All promotions unlocked text: shows when all tiers are unlocked. If empty, the bar shows the unlocked text.
Use the {} button in a field to insert values such as the amount still needed.
To translate the texts, open General and click Edit translations.
To show confetti when a customer unlocks a reward, select Celebrate with confetti when a reward is unlocked.
Add more tiers
Click Add tier again for each new step. For example:
A Shipping discount tier for free shipping at 50.
An Order discount tier for 10% off at 100.
A Free gift tier at 150. Click Add product to select the gift. Next to Free gifts are added, select Automatically or Manually by customer.
Each tier needs a different threshold. The bar shows tiers from the lowest threshold to the highest.
Set different tiers for each market
If your store has more than one market, a Markets list shows next to Default tiers.
In the Markets list, select a market.
Click Add tier for [market name] and set the tier in the same way as above.
To show no bar and give no rewards in this market, select Disable promotions in this market before you add tiers.
Customers in a market with its own tiers see only those tiers. All other markets use the default tiers.
Currency in other markets
Kaching Cart converts thresholds and fixed amounts from your store currency with Shopify's currency rates. To use the market's own currency:
Select the market in the Markets list and add at least one tier.
Select Use market currency.
Enter the thresholds and amounts in the market's currency. Kaching Cart does not convert them.
This option shows only when the bar uses Cart total.
Exclude products from the count
Select Exclude specific products from being counted.
Click Select products and select the products.
Save your changes.
These products do not count toward any threshold.
Good to know
Shopify allows at most 25 active automatic discounts per store, including other apps' discounts. At this limit, customers do not get the rewards. Deactivate automatic discounts you no longer need in Discounts, keep the "Kaching Cart - …" discounts active, and save the cart again.
If a customer unlocks more than one shipping discount tier, only the tier with the highest threshold applies.
The free shipping discount combines with order discounts and product discounts. It does not combine with other shipping discounts.
Discount codes lower the cart total that counts toward a tier.
Free gifts from the bar, and products that the app adds to the cart automatically, do not count toward a threshold.
You can exclude at most 50 products from the count.
