This guide explains how Kaching Bundles discounts combine with other discounts at checkout (discount codes, order discounts, shipping discounts), and how to control it for each deal.

Understanding Discount Combination Logic
Kaching Bundles discounts are product discounts in Shopify. Shopify has its own rules for which discount types can combine. A bundle discount can combine with:
Product discounts: other discounts on products (for example, a product discount code).
Order discounts: a discount on the whole order (for example, 10% off the total).
Shipping discounts: free or discounted shipping.

Step 1: Choose what your bundle deal combines with
You can now choose, for each deal, which discounts it can combine with.
In Kaching Bundles, open your deal.
Go to Settings and find Combinations.
Tick or untick Product discounts, Order discounts and Shipping discounts.
Save the deal.
All three boxes are ticked by default. Your existing deals work the same as before until you change them.
Example: a 20% off clearance bundle can refuse coupons (untick Product and Order discounts), while your 2-pack deal still works with free shipping codes (keep Shipping discounts ticked).

Step 2: Allow the other discount to combine with your bundle
The other discount must also allow the combination. Set this in Shopify:
From your Shopify admin, go to Discounts.
Select the discount you want to combine with your bundle offer.
Scroll down to the Combinations section.
Check the box for Product discounts. This lets the discount apply together with the bundle discount.
Change many deals at once: on the deals page, select the deals, then click Edit combinations.
š” Is your code a product discount (for example "Amount off products") on the same products as the bundle? Shopify combines two product discounts on the same item only on Shopify Plus. On other plans, Shopify applies only the better discount, even when both allow combining. To give the code on top of the bundle, create it as an Amount off order discount, allow Product discounts in its Combinations, and keep Order discounts ticked on the deal.
How to stop discount codes from stacking on bundles
Do you want to stop shoppers from using a big bundle discount and a discount code together? Untick the matching box in the deal's Combinations setting (Step 1). For example, untick Order discounts to block a 15% off order code on top of the bundle. Shopify then applies only the better discount.
Applying a Single Discount to an Entire Bundle
A common request is to apply a single discount code to an entire bundle, rather than having separate discounts on each item. Here's how to do it:
Create an "Order" level discount: Instead of a product-specific discount, create a discount that applies to the entire order.
Set the discount type: This can be a percentage (e.g., 15% off the entire order) or a fixed amount.
Enable the Product discounts combination: In the discount's settings, enable the combination with "Product discounts" (Step 2).
Check your deal: Make sure Order discounts is ticked in your deal's Combinations setting (Step 1).
š” Pro-Tip: Use order-level discounts for sitewide sales or special promotions. Customers can then use a single code that applies to their entire cart, including any bundles.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
"Both discounts allow combining, but only one applies."
Check the type of the code. A product discount code on the same products as the bundle does not combine on non-Plus stores (see Step 2). Use an Amount off order code instead.
"My discount code isn't working with the bundle!"
Check both sides of the combination:
Your deal: open the deal, go to Settings ā Combinations, and make sure the matching box is ticked (Product, Order or Shipping discounts).
The discount code: in Shopify admin ā Discounts, make sure the code allows combining with Product discounts.
Shopify rules: even when both allow it, Shopify decides how discounts apply. If they can't combine, Shopify applies the better one. If you want an extra discount on top of the bundle, an Order level discount is usually the simplest option.
Best Practices for Combining Discounts
Keep it simple: Too many overlapping discounts can be confusing for customers and difficult to manage. Stick to a few, well-planned offers.
Protect your margin: Untick combinations on deals that already have a big discount, so shoppers can't stack a coupon on top.
Test your discounts: Before launching a new promotion, always test it at checkout to make sure the discounts apply correctly.
