A minimum order value is the smallest amount a customer must spend before they can complete their checkout.

In Shopify, you can enforce a minimum order value by creating a custom shipping profile with a condition based on the order price. This approach restricts checkout if the total cart value does not meet your set minimum.

Steps to Set Up a Minimum Order Value

1. Go to Shopify Admin → Settings → Shipping and delivery

2. Create a custom profile by clicking “Create custom profile.”

3. Select products (one or multiple) that you want this rule to apply to

4. Click “Add rate”

5. In the modal window, click “Add conditional pricing”

6. Check “Based on order price”

7. Enter your minimum price (e.g., 50 EUR).

8. Click Save

Testing Your Setup

After saving, test the checkout process to confirm the rule works as expected.

Example:

I created a rule that requires a minimum order of 50 EUR for purchasing the product “Basket ball.” Since the product price is 26.95 EUR, the checkout cannot be completed until the total cart value reaches 50 EUR.
